Duramax repair in Spring, TX, tested before it's torn down.
Silverado and Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD, every generation of the 6.6. Injectors, the high-pressure pump, cooling, glow plugs and emissions — narrowed down with readings, not by replacing parts until the light goes out.
If your Duramax is doing one of these
You do not need to know the cause to book. Describe what the truck is doing and we will find it — that is what the diagnostic hour is for, and it comes off the bill if you have us do the work.
Smoke, rough idle, fuel in the oil
Injector faults on the early engines show up as smoke, a rough idle, rising oil level or a balance rate out of range. We read balance rates and return flow first — on the early 6.6 that job means valve covers off, so we want to be sure before we start.
Died suddenly and won't restart
A failed high-pressure pump on the later engines can push metal through the rail, injectors and lines. We check the filter housing and rail for debris before quoting, because a pump on its own is rarely the whole repair.
Temperature climbing under load
Coolant pushed into the overflow, a gauge that creeps on a grade. We test for combustion gases in the coolant and check the fan clutch and the cooling stack before assuming a head gasket.
Long crank and white smoke when cold
Glow plugs, the controller and the wiring tested individually. Misfire for the first minute is usually one or two plugs, not the set.
Regen keeps trying, DEF faults, derate countdown
From 2007 on. Repaired properly and cleaned where the filter genuinely needs it — never deleted. See our emissions page.
Service intervals, done together
Oil, fuel filter, air and cabin filters, coolant, and the transmission fluid and filters when they are due, in one visit and recorded against the truck.
What you get before we touch anything
Same as every job here: we inspect it, photograph what we find, put an estimate in your hands, and wait for you to say yes. On a diesel that matters more, because the parts are expensive enough that nobody should be guessing.
Diagnosis you can read
A full code pull and live data, cross-checked against what the truck is actually doing — then explained in plain language. $100, and it comes off the bill if we do the repair.
Published rates
$180/hr for heavy duty and any diesel. Cars and light trucks (up to ½ ton) are $125, trucks (¾ ton and up) $150. Most shops make you call to find out what an hour costs; ours are on the site.
Warranty in writing
Parts carry their manufacturer warranty, usually 6–12 months. Our workmanship is 30 days — if we got it wrong, we put it right at no charge. If a warranty part fails, labor is charged again; we would rather say that up front than at the counter.
Fleet work
Scheduled maintenance programs for working trucks, with one point of contact and records kept against each vehicle. Call and we will work out intervals around how the trucks actually run.
